FRESH BAKES

Electric Bakery — a hip hotspot at The Depot with Cornish and Scandi roots, this place serves up awesome breads, pastries, cakes, and coffee (open 7am-4pm Wed-Sat). Dedicated to local produce, zero waste and sustainable practices, Al’s Specials are served every Saturday using whatever ingredient he has to hand. You must be there quick though as when it’s gone, it’s gone!

Bellini’s Deli — a deli that just has everything you would want in your pantry and more. Adam pre-orders bread and baked goods from Baker Tom’s (the chocolate croissants and cinnamon knots are to die for) daily if you ring by lunchtime, he can generally have it in for you the next morning. You can also order everything online through their e-store, from gourmet groceries to wines and spirits (all local of course). It will all be ready to collect when you arrive — it couldn’t be easier.

DRINKS

North Coast Wine Warehouse and Lounge — a hero of Bude Highstreet (for us anyway!), it’s a place to get a caffeine or cocktail fix, and stock up on the best wines, beers, and spirits for home. Championing unique suppliers from around the globe, as well as local suppliers, we love the selection of Cornish gins, rums, and wines here. They run tasting events, and go out of their way to make your experience as special as possible.

PRIVATE CHEFS

Chef Sargent — Bringing the restaurant to The Pink House, Chef Sargent can cover the entire event, from setting the table, serving the drinks to tidying up at the end of the evening. Whether a celebratory four-course dinner party or some spectacular canapes and drinks, all his menus are inspired by the ingredients of the North Cornwall coast.

Beautiful and the Feast — Nomadic chefs from Bude’s most renowned restaurant Temple, the team are often fully booked during wedding season, but out of this season (or even mid-week) this team of food lovers forte is to creative menu’s to be shared around a big table with loved ones – from sharing plates to big platters, it’s informal, creative food at its best. Completely tailored catering for a long weekend is also available, super fun for a spoiling foodie weekend.

Nicky Vereker — For home-cooked, ready prepared meals to your door, look no further than Nicky. Brilliant for a first night meal, some ready-prepped food for the kids, or for a special occasion, food is delivered in dishes ready to pop in the oven, and Nicky collects the cookware when you’re done.

FRESH PRODUCE

Beach House and Wet Fish, Widemouth — less than 10-minutes by car from the house, this is the place to stock up on catch-of-the-day and lobsters for the barbecue. Make sure you pre-order ahead by phone for a lobster feast or larger orders!

Fisherman Dan’s Fresh Fish, Bude — in the town centre, a small but excellent fish shop on Lansdown Mews. Generally open 10am-4pm.

Moore’s Butchers — locally sourced, free-range, and family run, Moore’s own a local farm that supplies grass-fed beef and lamb. They also offer home deliveries, otherwise you can find them on Queen’s Street in town.

TOP TABLES

Temple — this cool café-restaurant champions local, Cornish fare with a changing evening set-menu that rings with the seasons. A platform for local creatives, they host ‘Temple Takeovers’ during which up-and-coming chefs are given the opportunity to serve their menus. The all-day brunch, and coffee make it a winner day or night. With accolades from top food and travel writers, its understated exterior on Granville Terrace is in keeping with its laid-back and welcoming style.

Potters — run by a husband-and-wife team, this stylish restaurant in the centre of Bude, makes the ideal casual brekkie or lunch spot, and is good for the kids too. Set over multiple floors, it’s cosy and perfect to find a nook for a rainy day when a beach side restaurant isn’t the thing. After sunset, cocktails and fine dining take over.

The Beach at Bude — with a great sunset terrace overlooking Summerleaze Beach, this is the place to be on a balmy summers evening. No longer serving food, they simply serve up a very decent cocktail list (the Cornish Mojito a must) and live music on weekends add to the appeal.

Sea Fever — located in the Atlantic Hotel this is a great choice for seafood lovers, headed up by local chef Kyan Hooper, it champions the freshest Cornish produce in a friendly, relaxed environment. Book in for a spoiling evening meal.

The Olive Tree — this bistro with canal side terrace is perfect for al fresco dining, with a menu that has something for everyone, and great vegetarian and vegan options, it’s a firm favourite of ours.

Rosie’s Kitchen — just a stone’s throw from The Pink House, cheerful, laidback Rosie’s serves good beachside fare from fish and chips to burgers for adults and kids alike. But for us, the Gerry’s ice-cream and milkshake bar is the big draw — we guarantee you’ll be a regular at the end of your stay.

Life’s a Beach (LAB) — a great casual spot for lunch, with sandwiches, salads, fresh grilled fish to popcorn shrimp (and plenty of kid’s options) it’s ideal for lunch straight off the beach. By evening, you’ll find cocktails and a more elegant dinner menu. Easily walkable from The Pink House…
