FRIDAY

Bude is best reached by car, if you happen to be coming via Launceston, consider a pitstop at award-winning Tre, Pol and Pen. Tuck into a farm-to-table lunch and stock up on organic goodies from the farm shop. Closeby, there’s also Strawberry Field’s at Lifton, with a deli and great selection of oven-ready meals that take any stress out of meal prep. Arrive at the house and settle in, then take a stroll down to Crooklet’s Beach, stopping at Rosie’s for a sundowner. For dinner, be sure to reserve a table at Temple well in advance. Truly championing local Cornish fare, their nightly set menu rings with the seasons and sharing is actively encouraged.

SATURDAY

Saturdays are for exploring and the North Coast is not only home to sandy beaches and Atlantic rollers, but cliff hugging villages that have become foodie hotspots. Port Isaac (about 45-minutes’ drive) is home to Nathan Outlaw’s Fish Kitchen and Outlaw’s New Road; both serving up seafood inspired set-menu’s in homage to Cornish waters. Drive a little further north to charming Padstow, and you’re spoilt for choice. Home to Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant with its magical harbour-side location, this institution has a long dinner waiting list, but lunchtime is easier to book. Our lesser-known favourites include Paul Ainsworth’s Caffe Rojano (for a real splurge opt for Ainsworth’s No 6…), as well as casual hotspots Prawn On The Lawn and Barnaby’s.

If you’re a true foodie, don’t miss Coombeshead Farm, about a 45-minute drive from the house. Heralded by Conde Nast Traveller as “England’s best farm-to-table restaurant”, it’s a lauded collaboration between acclaimed chefs Tom Adams and April Bloomfield. Set in 66-acres of rolling countryside, their spectacular restaurant gets booked months in advance (note they’re only open for lunch on weekends).

SUNDAY

Sundays are made for relaxing. Why not start the day with a sunrise yoga session on the beach, or in cooler seasons, at home — we can connect you with Fiona, who also runs heavenly meditation classes for those in need of some additional zen. Enjoy a lazy brunch at home with baked goods from our favourite Electric Bakery (open Wed-Saturday), with other goodies (farm-fresh eggs to smoked salmon) from Bellini’s Deli. Then walk the coastal path to Widemouth Bay, a rugged coastline with endless views of the Atlantic surf rolling in. You can make it a round trip route if you come back via the canals. After your walk, there’s always the option to indulge in a spa treatment or two, if you’re booking two treatments Vicky Barnes naturally holistic treatments and therapies will offer at home treatments at The Pink House.
